Meaning of this not clear!

Does it mean a communal system (multiswitch), in which case you could just "join on" your own Sky receiver?

Or, is it somebody's private installation? In which case - since already working - perhaps you could "share" the dish by using a dual or quad type lnb and running a 2nd cable? Would save installing a 2nd large dish!

It's the 2nd scenario, I will be providing the infrastructure for dual or quad type lnb.

??? Why have you ingored their advice? The 430 isn't as good as the 2600 so why buy one? What size is the 'large' communal dish? If its around 2.4m then your choice makes no difference as you will only be concerned with astra2b tranmissions (no bbc). However, if it is in excess of 3.2ish meter then you will be looking for some or lots of BBC/ITV, this is when your choice of receiver may come back to haunt you.

My advice...cancel the 430 and go for a 2600!

there, I've said it now

Cheers

That's easier said than done, the only practical place to look is ebay, and some sellers don't know the difference betweeen the two models. Some describe the new Pace as a 2600. There are relatively few genuine 2600s available at any one time and they sell quickly.

Thanks for the suggestion Zorba. What makes the 2600 worth the extra £70 or so?
It is worth the extra £'s if you are in a fringe area and want to get very weak signals.

The fact that you get a picture with a standard size dish suggest that you live in the western parts of Switzerland?

If so - You are not in fringe area and should get away with digiboxes with cheaper tuners.

I agree, I buy a hell of alot of these units on ebay and I admit one was sold to me as a 2600 only to find that it was a 430 with the stickers removed. Ebay is also problematic for many people in Cyprus.

Jortheo, If you need a 2600 then let me know and I can supply one (cheaper than the place you went to for the 430). I think you'll have to let me know through the this thread as I don't think you can PM yet.

Admin: I'm sorry if I've broken any rules by saying the above, but its difficult to help him out any other way.:-ohmy

Cheers

While on the subject of 2600's,I have one with a faulty tuner.I think you said you can get them, but can you replace them?I looked inside and it looks very tricky with double sided print.

Hi Zorba

I use _http://www.mces.co.uk/Offers.htm for my tuner repairs. They are very reliable and I think also reasonable.

Cheers

As I live close to both the French & German borders, you are somewhat right with your 'western parts', but the French speakers might be offended!

Yes, I get a good picture even with a 45cm minidish, but my DSB 30 keeps crashing despite extra fan and heat sink. As I can't get a new 2600, the 430 seems to be the best bet. I was not ignoring anybody's advice at all!

The new box has already had an x-ray in Hampshire (wonders of technology, being able to track parcels on-line), so will be here soon and installed at the weekend. Will post an update. Thanks again to you all for your input.

Hey, it (Pace 430) arrived today. Just switched the cables to the new box and away she goes. Signal strength and quality show about 60% compared with the 70% that the DSB30 gave, but so far so good regarding what we actually see. At least this one should not need an extra fan building in....

You don't need a fan for the Pana 30; just a Satcure heatsink will do, and oh the panafilter seems to have solved the lockup problem even though they say it is not neccessary for an Invacom 120.

I prefer the picture from the Pana to the Pace. I think the Pace has a doctored output which gives an artificiallly sharp picture. The Pana is also faster on boot up.
