Not recording.

I think I know the answer to this question before I ask it and I don't think the answer is the one I will want to hear.
My Sky+ box has stopped recording while another channel is being watched.
The symptoms are,when recording a channel I cannot change the channel, the EPG and banner still work but when I try to select another channel it just takes me back to the one being recorded, the channel changes fine if I am not recording.
I have checked both the cables are working by unplugging them both and plugging one at a time into the first input, I get the same symptoms as before. I have also tried to plug them one at a time into the second input and I get a "No Signal" warning but the banner and EPG still work.
To me this would say the second receiver is fried and I will need a technician to fix it. Could some one please tell me I am wrong?
 
No, you're right, it needs fixing or relegating to door-stop duty.
There have been a number of reports of input 2 problems on this and other forums.
 
im sure u have tried it but a factory reset some times solve the loss of input 2. well it do in the uk. unplug hold left and right nav buttons turn on while holding. when green circle lights up release nav buttons and press select.then wait till green light stops rotating anticlock wise. this will reformat hard drive.
 
i have come across this problem alot one thing you can try is that will make input 2 come back on if it is not fried
make sure there is no recording going on
put the box on to sky1 (106)
then start it recording
now turn the box over by pressing the channel up key and not by entering the channel number
now go and check the signal levels in the menu
this is not 100% going to work but if it does not then you know input 2 is fried

Sat.guy, Thanks for the info but sadly it didn't work, before I try a factory reset I need to know if it might cause me to loose what is still working, keeping in mind I am in Egypt and don't receive the factory default transponder. I am using 12.207 as default. I take it I will also lose what is already on the hard drive.

One other symptom I have just noticed, The red dot on screen, the one in the corner that prompts you to press the red button to get more info about something or go interactive, is flickering. I don't know weather or not this has anything to do with it.
