,i want,to buy i new notebook,in aproximently 2 month,or at chrismas time,if i look in picture quality,in store,i like,the sony vaio notebooks,picture looks very clear brightful colors,but the problem,the i dont,like the new reflective display types,that looks,like,you standing,in front of a mirror..

now,dell told me,i can buy i special antireflective material,to use on every notbook screen,but,i dont think,that is the best solution

now,i want,to order the notebooks,on the net,coz its cheaper,then in local stores,but i dont know,what up to date,notebook with cor2 2,ore intel quad core cpu,of the viao series,has non reflevtive display,with good picture and resulution,what are your favorites?

I really don't know why they did that with notebook and even some desktop TFTs, my laptop, who's parts are probably about 3 to 4 years old, has the older matte type TFT, and compared to a glossy screened TFT of the same resolution, I'd prefer to have my TFT anyday!!!

As for Dell, avoid their laptops and PCs as their customer support is terrible. Your best bet is to go to your local computer retailer to get a good look at all the different laptop models and brands and choose the one which best suits your needs and has a matte screen coating, then go online and find the best deal you can on the model you choose... :)
 
Of course everybody will have their own opinion as what they prefer but it is very obvious that it has been done to enhance the quality of the colours displayed. At work we do a lot of laminating and the same document laminated with glossy pouch is far more bright and attractive to the eye than a matt pouch. I have not seen a new laptop displayed in any shops with a matt finish for some time. I agree it can be distracting in certain lighting conditions but to be honest after a while you do not notice it.

As a laptop repair engineer, I can't stand them!!! As when I'm in work I have the display tilted upwards more that it would usually be in a home or business environment, and the screen reflects the fluorescents lights which makes it difficult to read what's on the screen (especially when trying to identify XP's BSOD error names). As for the colours, personally, I don't like them as sharp as a pinhead, I like them just that little bit smoothed out so they don't show up the pixels as prodominantly... :)
 
Whilst not disagreeing with what you are saying, you are talking as a repair engineer not a daily laptop user. I would have said the whole point of a laptop is that it is not normally used in an environment that is considered standard therefore it is normal to adjust the laptop screen to minimise reflections especially when on the move. If you prefer colours not as sharp then this can be adjusted using the setup controls on the display chip/card on most modern laptops to accommodate your tastes but if you start off with a system that is 'not sharp' then many users may simply become frustrated with a poor display.

Just as a matter of interest, a friend of mine is red green colour blind and has his television permanently set with very pale colours, you are not colour blind are you to add to your existing problems?
