Noted a sun outage this morning :)

I was tinkering with the 7020 this morning and happened to have the box tuned into a station on 11200khz on 13E. Around 1140 bst the picture started breaking up and the BER shot right up. I was a bit puzzled to start with, and thought a bird had perched in front of the lnb. Then I realised what was causing it, and a quick check across various channels showed total signal loss.

10 minutes later things were back to normal.

Ive chased the sun round the arc a couple of times in the past but this was the first time Id ever noticed one without looking for it :D
 
ah yes, it's that time of year. Congrats on finding it without looking!
Remind me, will this happen to all of clarke belt around now, or is it staged to, say, across from east to west?

Apparently there is an RAF Volmet on 11200khz :-righton

We had our Sky blackouts last week at 13.00 local time(11.00 UK)

Oh drat - 11200MHZ of course. Its east to west one slot at a time
 
For the past few days I was trying to see what satellite "coverage" was in my garden by using the sun and the shade. Sadly, the sun was constantly covered by the clouds and I wasn't able to do it :(

I only get black outs after a few bottles of scotch.
 
Noticed ours 2 weeks ago at 10.30 am GMT at 28 East and got a call about Nilesat later in the afternoon maybe 2pm not sure
 
So anybody know when/what time the outage would affect the uplink from sky transmitters to the satellites ?
