OK- best feed cover ?

Following on from Korpens thread of earlier

and having a couple of customers with feeds that are now without the green cap, what constitutes the best cover as a replacement, both in preventing the spider/water ingress, and somewhat longer lasting than clingfilm.

Bear in mind it also has to be more or less transparent to microwaves at all frequencies, anyone using a yoghurt pot/cat food lid/parcel tape should also give an idea on how much loss they incurred when fitting something different to the front of their feed.

I've used a piece of thick carrier bag in the past, survives a few months before requiring renewal.

Unfortunately this one is quite a few miles from home and overhangs a sheer drop, so the customer would need an installer each time to relace it.

The original feed cap lasted about seven years, but perished away completely.

My old bluecap that was in use many years and survived at least 3 years with clear acetate paper as used for overhead projectors cut to size and affixed using bathroom acrylic sealant. I did not notice any drop of in perfomance at the time but with a 1.2mtr dish I wouldn't have expected to

Thanks for the answers, in the end I dound that the plastic container from a pot of Tesco Mushroom Pate was an ideal size, and structural rigidity.

One small hole at the point nearest the boom arm and some sealant round the edges and she works a treat.
