Old Sky Dish

Need some info as I am a newbie to all this sat stuff, I have an old sky dish on the side of my house, I connected it to my portable sat box in my caravan to see if it still works and it does.
All I could get on it was Astra 1 without moving it ( my sat box told me this ).
Because the dish has been up for about 7 to 8 years is that why I could not get Astra 2 with my sat box in my van.

I am thinking of using this old dish for my caravan because it is a perforated dish and would work well on a tripod.

So my question is would I be ok to use this dish and would it work pointed at Astra 2 with my Porty 2 sat box.

Will depend on whether it has a universal LNB, if it does, then it'll be fine, if it doesn't, then you can buy one for less than £10. :)
 
yep work fine apart from as rolfw suggests just make sure the lnb is a universal one
 
Apart from in the gentlest breeze, perforations arent going to make any difference whatsoever to the dish. Fill a bucket with earth or sand, and hang it off the middle of the tripod to counterbalance it.
