Nice n Dry this morning ..so thought I'd have a go at Equinox 16E...
Previously never above 5.5db ...but finally managed a lock albeit briefly..
This one is very fringe at my location ..
Often giving over 7db now ..and then dropping dramatically seconds later to 3db...
But at least it is now logged in ..
Possibly some tweaking might up sig levels a bit ...and certainly NOT possible in rain or thick cloud..
@ Llew ..what is the signal like East of the Penines ? ...is it eratic there also ..?
I suspect your 2db advantage over Manchester might well give a more stable lock..

Equinoxe TV 9.0dB VS on the Triax TD88. As you suggest, the footprint could be weaker at your location.

A weather cap ..
Found a suitable plastic screw top lid on a big jar of sweets round at my mums ..
Nicked it and carved a hole in the lid ..
A ring of frame sealant ..and popped in a prepared disc of Lexan Polycarbonate..
Nice job ..but will it reduce signal significantly ..?
We shall see ..

A quick test would indicate I may have lost between 0.1 and 0.2 db ..
I can live with that as a trade off for less worry about the lnb and the weather..
..and just in time by the way the wind is getting up ..and thick cloud forming.

It will be laquered eventually ..
Outside only of course ..now the inside is to some extent ..protected.

A reasonable compromise.

As you know spits of rain and snow will suddenly appear from cloudless skies during winter, always when you don't expect them. It would be a pain for it to go pear shaped after all your efforts.
