Just watching a fascinating ducumentary shown on the Smithsonian Channel ...
Yes apparently there really is one..
entitled 'Building Star Trek'
They try to re-create the bridge of the original Enterprise as an exhibit ...using genuine set pieces and the like ...
and delve into the inspired future predictions made by the use of devices such as Phasers ...Tractor beams ..
Tricorders ...and the like ..
Just witnessed a tractor beam in action ...but had to pause it as I'm off to work soon ..
(only on the particle level of course)
The ability to move matter with light was actually posited and mathematically proven by that great mind ..
James Clerk Maxwell ...
Probably the least known and least appreciated Genius of his day ..
Anyway ...as we know ...many modern day devices were inspired by Star Trek ...
The communicator > Mobile phone
The Tablets they used ...well 'nuff said ...
etc
Anyway ...if this does get aired over here ...I'd say ...
Well worth a watch..

Sounds like something interesting, as for the comparison of what they "made up" (as Shatner put it in one of his documentaries on the subject, think it was titled "How William Shatner changed the world" (was meant to be Star Trek but paramount/CBS wouldn't license it!)) versus what we use today, yep, mobile communications, video communication, instant access to data on handheld tablets, weapons that use light and not projectiles, and most recently, warp theory becoming a reality... :)
 
And here's me thinking all our gadgetry ideas were conceived by Raymond Baxter :(

Yes it does - if it is transplant. I remember the stick that he got about a supposed wig he was wearing but frankly I thought it looked pretty good regardless of whether it's a wig, transplant or his own.

I have one of my own ...it's white and made of porcelain ...
I tansported my own ..captains log this very morning ...
I guess it's currently on it's way to the North Sea ...
