I wish I could go out and get refurbished, my back is killing me due to the cold wet weather.

Excellent job Spiff - its always great to see old dishes being given a new lease of life.

Most of my dishes are second hand, and some of them are looking decidedly tatty after 10+ years in the Scottish weather. Every couple of years I have to scrub them to get the algae off :D

The lichen loves the back of the 53E dish - that stays on coz it looks pretty :D

Great restore, love the result!
What do you feel was easier, setting up the precision mount or the H2H motors?

Also, from the pics I would guess you are living in an old mill. Is this so?

Anything below 40 degrees F, cold damp and foggy...........Hey that sounds like summer for some of you......I use to live in North Dakota, had a great tolerance for cold weather, but have been spoiled by the weather out here, but also getting old, the cold and old do not mix.

Thank you for your kind comment : )

The precision mount was very straight forward to set up and works perfectly.

The way it is built, like a tank, I am sure it will stand up to the high winds we get here.

The Jacks were second hand but it comes up on the sats every time, right on the button : )

I love the way it looks and works, like a proper piece of equipment should.

I have had two H2H motors the elephant trunk type, both had lots of problems with wind shifting the clamps.

Also the bolt that holds the trunk to the motor spindle not holding tight and the dish drooping.

Very messy to set up as all the adjustments are so crude, never again.

I have not set my Jaeger motor up yet so cannot comment on that one, it is brand new in a box and so nice I may just leave it there : )

The thought of putting it out in all that salt air no no.

As to our location it is a holiday gift and clothing shop built round 1930, we live on two floors above the shop.

The dish pole is mounted on the old pottery wall which is now my radio workshop, I can get at the dish and mount from a balcony we have at the rear, it is also as sheltered as it can be in that location.

Due west is out to sea 50 yards away.

This link is to find a new tennant for the shop, but it has some pictures of the front of the building, the pottery is on the left side.

We also get an algae type of growth yellow in colour on all the roofs here in Mullion Cove, I think it is to do with the sea air as you do not see it so much in Mullion Village which is a mile inland.

Second hand is good, it saves a lot of money, but it is not just that I love restoring things, they have a life to them that new items do not have : )

Looks very nice!
I was just oggling the stream that seems to run at the back of your house, and the height of the building led me (wrongly) to speculate that this was an old mill.
From the pictures it is now clear why it looks the way it does!
Thanks for sharing.
