Hi all,
Today took delivery of pace 2600c1 hooked it up and all seems well watched some channels didn't have before so that has to be a good start. But alas al is not what it seems, the box i was told has updated software, oh no it doesn't. The epg sofware is version 3.5.3 not 3.7.6 am i right in thinking it will eventually upgrade itself if left on. All works ok so what is the upgraded sofware going to give me, anyone know.

Part 2
Surely i should be doing better than this picture says on signal quality, i cannot get it any better with my endless tweeking.
I will let you know i manage to hold onto bbc1 and bbc2 longer this evening............Heres hoping

Keep your saga going as long as you want!

Glad you've got the PACE now - and you are right to assume it will eventually Update Automatically, but that may take a fair few weeks, so it needs to be kept in Standby at least.

You could, from time to time, try a Forced Download, but the 3.7.6 for your Box may not be transmitted that often.

I cannot recall what the precise changes are, but in general terms Sky Boxes tend to give up the ghost if their software gets too far out of date.

Second point on Quality: Very hard to say as the metering is cr*p anyway. Best to make observations, as you suggest, as to what actually happens to the less stable Channels over time.

There is no harm in carrying out a forced upgrade, it used to be a mandatory instruction stuck to the front of all new SkyHD boxes not long ago, and no manufacturer is going to waste time and money employing people to upgrade boxes already out of the production conveyer belt.

The digibox signal quality indication is that of transponder 4 in the high band, not what most would peak their dish on in fringe regions.

Don't forget you can set another transponder frequency into the box and recheck for signal. I think it is within the 'add channel' section of the menu.
