Since having my raspberry pi, I have been trying different programs.

I have made some back up img files, trouble is they are 14.9 gb's each.

I used to use mega upload to "save" and share large files in the past.

I have a Dropbox account but that's limited to 3.5gb's or I can pay to upgrade the storage.

Can anyone recommend a good free storage/share site?

Or am I best looking at own cloud type solutions?

Many thanks.

Can't you take a hard drive from an old Sky box and use that?

I find Google drive very good, it's only 15gb, but its totally free and very fast and secure

Probably could, but just like Dropbox or mega upload I can share the files.

For example, the backup img of my raspberry pi running ModeSDecod2.

What would be the largest size files ?

I use Google storage for some years and I like it. Moreover, they give unlimited space .... store as much as you wish. I am not sure about very big files though. When I take picture on my phone it automatically get uploaded to Google, means if I go to the PC then picture is already there as well. I also like very much online Google picture-cropping.

To be honest, I don't mind paying £8 a month for 1TB storage on Dropbox and I am nowhere near the limit.

I pay £2.75 per month plus VAT (£3.30 per month I think it works out at) or £30 per year for unlimited web hosting for unlimited websites and with unlimited bandwidth transfer, I have an FTP set up and have network folders linked to the FTP on my laptop and PC.
They can be a tad sluggish if one of the other server users are killing it but I can't complain for the money.

Do you also get a domain name included?

Sorry I just read it. Sounds interesting.

I would advise to register your domain yourself with a registrar like GoDaddy and others, instead of getting a "Free" domain.
It can save you the hassle later on if you decide to host somewhere else.
There are a lot of discount coupons if you search Google.

They do offer a free domain for 12 months and I picked one just for the heck of it (because it was free) but I have a feeling when it comes to renewal time the domain will cost more than a years worth of hosting to buy again

I have several domains from namecheap linked to the hosting and haven't had any problems with them yet

I can't quite work out how much space I'm using so far because online it says about 6 and a half gig but the FTP says nearly 28 gig (unless I'm reading it wrong?)

The disk usage probably hasn't caught up in the cPanel, the servers on those things aren't always the speediest when it comes to updating... :)
