wonderful amount of study on this seasonal phenomenon....which I think is typical of every coastal area,with different contries nearby...
The bbc used the phrase "do not adjust your set" that was for TV,but same goes for FM radio,& it seems for Dab+ too.
Only solution is,drive inland!!
SW France gets fm & tv from Spain ,North from Uk,SE from Italy/spain when the sea is hazy..Fun if you 're into DX ing
Here we had Long Waves and MW which were a big help to get a particular station in such moments... but money connected decisions killed that
Maybe Cyprus needs a good old Long Wave transmitter?? Alger chaine 3 works fine,on 252LW,& on seaside.

In the car I've managed to pick up radio stations from Hungary and Spain on medium wave (am) when driving along the south coast of uk. Bizarre tbh

quite usual for decades,as a kid in Strasbourg (N-East France near Germany),
using a valve radio with stations marked on the dial,I d wait for nighttime ,or any time in cold weather & pick up most of Europe ,Maghreb and Britain pretty easily,that s how radio Caroline & the BBC used to work.
During WWII ,,BBC progs were listened to all over Europe & the Nazis tried to jam them.
MW/LW are very convenient when driving & to listen just to another country.
BBC WS on 648 was so convenient when driving at night anywhere in Europe...
I can t understand why at least 1 transmitter per country (like BBC WS for the UK) hasn 't been saved.
Should Putin censor the Internet,Russia gets no news...

And high speed internet won' t ever be evrywhere like AM has been
Wasting internet energy for radio seems a high nonsense to me.
