I found it very loud - that's for the next generation of aircraft to address. VTOL is cool though!
Seem to remember reading a range of action fiction books many years ago featuring an outfit with Ospreys. Tom Clancy or something like that?
Agree with Analoguesat - it's a V22 Osprey (they have one here for POTUS's visit to see the Queen - and David C of course).
As for me, my "hobbies" are photography of WWII aircraft (been like that since I was a kid), PC computing (but I'm NBG at most aspects of that), cars (I have to fix them when I can to save money, and I have always been interested in tuning and upgrading the mechanical bits - started with an ORIGINAL 1959 Mini when I was a college) and DIY around the house (FWIW, my house is a bit of a weird shape because that's interesting but causes a lot of problems - check out 33 St Marys Rd UB3 2JP on Google Earth and see what I mean ) - and then there's sat TV which I got into in the 1980s/1990s, dropped during the early 21stC but am now trying to "get back into " because I want more info on what is going on outside the UK, especially the Middle East, plus to keep my brain alive now I'm "retired".
The problem is that I can't decide which is the most interesting, so I dabble in all of them = Jack of all trades but master of none" (and I really mean that - so please excuse any of my stupid questions on the forum).
The Ospreys get regular mentions on NHK News - one crashed in Japan on a residential area a few years ago & now Japan is demanding they are all removed. The Yankee war machine says no though....
Not so much a hobby but I do enjoy riding on the preserved railways when Im on holiday. Steam or diesel haulage Im not bothered - I love both. And wandering around the yards looking at the rolling stock - I got locked in Crewe Heritage Centre many years ago as Id wandered off into various areas I really wasnt supposed to be in. Fortunately the staff hadnt left & anyway no-one told me they were shutting early when I went in
I got a cab ride the length of the line in a diesel multiple unit on the mile long Cambrian railway near Oswestry a couple of weeks ago which was great fun
I know what you mean but I doubt that anyone outside this forum will see that post, but the shape of the house is "interesting" (although sometimes difficult to deal with in practice - the stories I could tell ) - and so I am not too bothered because any dedicated internet "intruder" could probably track me down if they really wanted to. OTOH, we apply very tight internet security protocols to avoid being scammed AND the ADT monitored house alarm system works VERY well - so potential intruders BEWARE! (AND, I've got a very BIG hammer in the house if you think otherwise )
Best cab ride though was at the Ecclesbourne Railway in Debyshire - the driver saw me hanging out the carriage window photographing the stock in the yard and invited me up front for a ride in the little 03 shunter (probably 03084 looking at pictures of the locos)
