Hi,

I recently bought an old pace 2600 c1 of ebay and whilst it works resonably well it drops some fo the channels on the epg and when you use channel up and down it will loop on a particualr set of channels.

Thats not so much of a problem but i tried to get my freesat from sky card activated and im told that i cant as my software (both model number and EPG) are too old. I tried the forced upgraded numerous times with no succes and i see from some forums that you need to wait for sky to sent the upgrade.

I have two questions then

1. Does anyone know when sky will send the next upgrage signal??

and 2. Why doesnt sky send the signal more often? it seems unfair that people who own these boxes cant use them correctly as sky are doing the simple? job of sending a signal at regualr intervals...

Thanks alot

My Pace 2600 works fine with my current Sky card :D

There is no reason why it shouldn't take a forced upgrade of the software as mine updated ok a few weeks ago after not being in use for some 12 months. This was done with the method below without the card in the slot. :toke:

SKY DIGIBOX FORCED DOWNLOAD

1.Unplug from Mains.

2.Hold Backup,on the digibox, not the remote control, while Plugging back in.

3.When all front panels lights come on, release Backup

4.Wait approximately 10 mins until Box goes into Standby

5.Before you start check Service 4, 5 and check your current EPG Version.

If using Scart, your TV screen will display appropriate status messages.

If it had been in regular use it would have updated correctly - presumably its been disconnected for a long time and missed any updates in that time.

It should update in time, although it could be anything up to a few months. Just leave it on standby for a few weeks.

Unfortunately this is one of the hazards of buying second hand boxes from fleabay - you never know if you are going to get a decent one..

You would have been better off getting a friend or relative to buy you a new one from a large tesco store.

Thanks for the reply nanochickin. This is the process ive tried at least 10 times with no success, scrren displays that its updating for 10 mins and then goes to standby but EPG remains at 3.2.11.......

Maybe i need just to leave it a while as Analoguesat suggests!

Yep im beginning to think that also, well ill leave it for a while and see what happens. I still have alot more channels than BBC1 and 2 which we get on cable over here, so shouldnt complain too much! :) Just hope the box updates sooner rather than later!

Download streams are not transmitted continuously so leave it a few weeks. :)

a client of mine bought a 2600...and after trying to manually update it for about 6 hours onthe day he bought it he left it hooked up for 5 weeks before it updated to the latest software....

Hi Uclchem. Has your Pace 2600 CI updated to the latest version yet?. I have the same problem with a reciever bought off ebay. I had the new freesat card from Sky this week but they are unable to activate it as the software is 3.4.4b
The forced download procedure does not work so I'm leaving the set on for a while 'incase'.
Does anyone know if and when Sky send out a download to these sets.

I am afraid it is best to leave your 2600ci on, or in standby until it updates to 3.7.6.

Then order your FreeSat card.

Mine was out of action for about 4 years. When I reconnected it, I had it plugged in for nearly a month before the epg updated.

Thanks embalse for that. I have received the freesat card 2 days ago and Sky were unable to activate it as the forced update did not work.

No problem waiting for the download, just wanted to confirm they are still doing this for the Pace 2006CI. I will let you know when the epg version changes. Thanks again.

Hi, I'm pleased to report that the EPG Software version on my Pace 2600CI has now updated to 3.7.6 and the Freesat card has been activated changing the 'prog. guide' to my local channels first.
I'ts taken just over a week.
Thanks for your Help, Vernon.

Hiya!!! pleased for you,...... had my box plugged into a spare feed from my dish for 6 weeks now, no joy,.... looks like I got a duff box,.... will try it for a tad longer,....
Cheers, Fred

Good luck with that Fred. Having looked at lots of forums about this it seems it can take several weeks sometimes. Stick with it. Vernon.

:):) 3.7.6 delivered last night,..... peace (for a short while!!) returns to the Comp household,....

Thanks, Fred

I have one of these pace 2600c 's on the way (to Croatia) from ebay....what do you have to have it connected to, not a phone line i hope. do you just leave it on standby connected to the sat dish? does it matter if you cant get astra 2D? i can only pick up 2A and B wth the dish i have at the moment!!

How long does it take before it updates?

My 2600C1 has been on several days now and no update.

I tried to force update but it didn't update.

I am using EPG Ver 3.4.4b and Model version 1.0.67

I've had one connected for three weeks now but it can only see the south beam as it is only on a 90cm dish. If comp's box update his may have got the update off a different transponder. Do the updates come from the default transponder? OSV 1.2S4FI, EPG 3.6.4.18, FTV card works fine and updated a couple of days after being switched on.

if you see comps replies it took his around 4 weeks for his to update...!

i had a grundig that was on 2.7.x and that updated no problem straight away!

The Grundig boxes I have here all update pretty quick so I guess that software is available a lot more often. Did you update them on a big dish? I've got so many of these things to update I am thinking of setting up a dish with a quattro LNB and a switch just for this purpose. My problem is all my other dishes are motorised and in use, so never parked on 28E for any extended period.

Problem being that i need to pair a new white Sky card with my receiver and read earlier that Sky can't pair if you have 3.4.4b, is that really true?
