Pace Sky Box laggy channel changes

A friend has a Pace Sky box (around 4 years old not Sky+) When changing channels it is very laggy, you have to push the buttons on the remote seveal times before the channel changes!, they have tested serveral remote controls (oneforall etc) but problem still accurs! Any idea's what might me causing this?

Well with any stb you need to have a look at the power supply initially, often the capacitors will be swollen and thus affecting the function of the stb, there is no guarantee but that is a starting point.

Someone said to update the system, is this worth a shot?

Other than that a new box might be the best.
 
You mean force a download, well it should have done this itself but if you are in the habit of switching it off at the mains then it cannot happen automatically and will have missed updates, so worth a try. Unplug the power lead, press the backup button hold and power on again hold until 3 light come on at the front, then leave for 5 or 10 minutes until download completed
