Yes Ive been a bit remiss starting the winter thread but as we have a big storm heading right for us, its time for the winter thread. Storm Eowyn has been generated douth of Newfoundland & is going to be a doozy on Friday. Much od Eire is already under red wind warnings, most of the northern part of the UK between Crieff & Manchester is under orange wind warnings & from what Im seeing on predicted windspeeds arriving during daylight on Friday its almost inevitable some red wind warnings will be issued.

These are our predicted wind gusts here in Kelso for Friday

Almost all school in the central belt of Scotland & the southern bits are closed tomorrow, so I get a nice bonus long weekend. Tomorrow will be spent watching the gale, monitoring my weather station to see what the windspeed is doing & hoping most of the dishes behind the garage survive!

As exopected almost all my dishes have at least shifted. I havent been outside to investigate further but most satellites are showing no signal. The only satellite showing a good signal is the dish pointing at 22W :D

The wind is regularly gusting to over 40mph & peak gust recorded on my little weather station is 58mph so far....

A quick look outside to see whats happening - the Sky dish is currently pointing north east! It can stay there until the winds die down...

I've had my 22w dish collapse after the weld on the ground mount base plate has failed, that a new one!

In an embarrassing case of bad planning, I actually realigned my motorised dish two days ago ........ At least I'm in practice for having another go tomorrow

Somewhat unbelievably, despite the installation bouncing around like bu**ery for 24hrs or so, the alignment remains perfect!
