paid server or free or linux?

heres one for you i am currently running new white s*y card on my server and am sharing it with 7 of my friends(free) am using newcs 1.66 and Cccam 2.1.1 but they have been noticing a freeze every 5 mins or so ,now my question is

1 is it because am using a free server? www.dyndns.com

2 would it be better if i paid for it from them?

3 is it because my box is connected to my router via wifi?

4 would i be better using a linux based, seperate computer with a proper card reader?

5 or is it something to do with my newcs file and can i alter the settings in there to make it stop freezing?

Ok here goes.

1. No, a free dyndns account simply means you have to visit the site every few months to keep you account alive.

2. I have a payed one myself but it makes no difference to performance.

3. I'm not a fan of wifi but I don' think it would make much difference in this instance.

4. For 7 users you don't need a linux PC. You can run probably upto 25 without issue.

5. It is most likely NewCS thats causing the problems. Do you have all the Block settings set to YES ?

Also bare in mind what you are using is Beta, experimental code, clearly stated in the change log with the realease of 1.66 RC1.
Do you yourself experience freezing at all ?

Are your friends using Nlines or Cline? I was getting freezes with cline but not Nlines, Just dont fancy handing out multiple reshares to some peers though

ok update ive not had any success am only shareing with 7 ppl and its been freezing all the time ,ive set up a standalone server using a pc on ubuntu and all looks good ,have a an infinity card reader and am just looking for tips on how to get this to work on my own server ,and also if i do get it to work how do i view the channels ?do i have to give myself a c line?or an n line? wot?

If it were a DNS problem the easiest way around it would be a static IP. That way the client could either use the IP directly in place of a domain or use a domain with a sensible TTL value.

I guess it all depends how often the IP changes. Here the mains power isn't perfect so the router can reset at any time, which is why I changed to a static IP.

Your own DDNS account will not make any difference. Even if ipothetically it does not update your IP, then you should still be able to connect to your friends as a client. HOwever, they will not connect to your server. This is if they do not use the reverse DNS lookup function.

Therefore, it is not how often your account updates that makes the difference.
