Could I ask you good folks for an advice?

I live in Sweden in an absolute fringe area. I have so far been able to get reasonable reception with a ChannelMaster 1,8 m dish an a Pace 2600c. I bought a SKY+ box but until resently the reception of HD channels wasn't that great. The recently channel jiggle have made it possible to get quite acceptable reception on BBC. After the termination of BBC SD I now have to accept that my old faithful Pace (that worked really well) have to be retired.

Is there any issues I should be aware of when I change the box concerning pairing my Sky card to the new box? Will I be able to get the HD channels or do I need an upgrade of the subscription?

Cheers

All the fta HD channels will work fine even without a card being paired. Any subscription HD channels will need the card to be paired.

Thank you for a quick reply.

I have still two specific questions though:

Will I be able to pair my card online without an internet connection to the box (living in Sweden, probably not a good idea to show a Swedish ip adress) ?

Will I be able to add the Sky premium HD channels to my subscription online with my Sky ID without a phonecall (do not want to risk calling Sky with a Swedish phonenumber)?

Cheers puffin

1. Probably not. But worth a shot anyway... when I replaced my Sky HD box with another, it re-paired it automatically but my box is connected to the internet.
2. That shouldn't be a problem. I'd try accessing the site using a UK VPN as well as that may also log your location as not being in the UK.

You might be able to pair the card without having the box connected using this method with a UK VPN:

I have paired a Ѕkycard in France many times, never had a problem, or bothered with a VPN. Usually takes less than a minute to pair.

I use this link https://www.Ѕky.com/myaccount/tv/card-pairing then enter details (use a real"s"). You need Viewing card number, version number, Serial Number, Receiver ID. These details will be shown in your menus.

I have not used a Ѕky+ box for many, many years. My boxes are Ѕky HD boxes. So I cant confirm if the process works with those old boxes.

Cant help on the question whether or not you will get HD channels - complete mystery to me how Ѕky subscription obfuscation works - I know I get channels in HD, and probably paying far more than I should be.

Many HD channels require additional payment - the old "HD supplement" aditional payment is still in place.

Most of the free HD channels are automatically swapped but the encrypted entertainment channels are additional payment. Movie & Sports packages automatically get the HD channels as standard.

So if you want to watch Eurosport HD you require the HD supplement. BBC ITV C4 wibe received in HD with no extra payment required.

I live in Ekerö and get ITV, Channel 4 and Film4 on an old 1.5 m centre focus dish. Where did you get your Channel Master?
