Advice Needed Pansat AP-600 Positioner - Anyone Used One ?

Hi,

Would anyone please be able to provide some feedback on the Pansat AP-600 dish positioner. It seems to get a good review and is "supposedly" better for larger dishes than some other positioners on the market.

Interesting. I am still on a lookout for a quality positioner. Preferable the one that can be controlled by a receiver though.
 
No experience of that box but can't help thinking the 'review' isn't as objective as it could be, I'll keep the rest of that thought to myself! I wouldn't be surprised if the 1998 on the PCB refers to the year of design not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

I agree about the objectivity of the review, it does seem to be a bit of over zealous endorsement.
We do have a few forum members from the USA/Canada so perhaps they might be able to provide a bit of feedback on the unit if they read this topic?
 
its a shame @Vipersan isnt a consultant on v-box design. like most things nowadays its just do as cheap as possible or if quality it tends to be professional stuff with stupid price tags. the titanium is supposed to be the dogs but as said the review sounds like a sales pitch. the guys over the pond who drive large dishes should have the best input of quality and life expectancy. its a throwaway society now with nothing made to last
 
My Pansat ap600 only lasted 3 years before I had to swap it out. My Pansat ap3500 has been moving my 3m dish without any issues for over 6 years now, unfortunately I cannot find another one.
 
I guess I was lucky to get an RC unit, but having said that I was looking for around 4 years until one turned up at a good price and in the uk, I have just bought two normal type but yet to try them,

What I have noticed with the v box / 1224 I get no hum from the v box, using an actuator the hum is present, keep looking on ebay and you might get a bargain as I did :)

I used to use one of those as well Martin, the unit was huge and weighed a ton. It was a bit complicated because it came programmed with sats that are now non-existent so I would designate a present day sat to an older name.
 
I will get my head round it I am sure :), a factory reset/a FW change should remove any old data, yes it is a heavy item but we wont be walking around holding it lol, there are still used to this day from what I can make out.

I have not ever used one however they are old. They do have preset positions but aren't diseq1.2 compatible so you cant control it from a receiver. I should point out the man who owns Rainier Satellite is Glen Musielak. He has a VERY bad rep over here in NA at every sat forum (banned). read this thread about him over at ricks forum
