We have a nice solar eclipse coming up in a couple of weeks.

It will be 80-90% totality in the UK - 80ish % in London, 90ish% in Scotland.

Oh and its worth repeating the safety warning:

Dont look at the eclipse directly through binoculars or telescopes - you could blind yourself.

Only use telescopes to project an image onto a sheet of card.

When its close to totality you can get an interesting effect by holding a vegetable colander in the sunlight & looking at the little crescent shapes it makes!

The best I can do is taking a picture of my camera's viewfinder.... else as soon as I press the shutter button, it goes all white.

This was my last picture, it was cloudy here but perfectly visible .

I remember seeing the eclipse in the late 90's, but it was much more cloudy then than it was now, so this was my best experience yet.

I tried taking some video of the eclipse, but my phone's camera didn't want to play ball with the cloud around so all I got was a green haze (was using a No. 14 welding lens as a filter), didn't even make it look all that dark when it hit the totality of what we were going to get (I'd say about 92%) when I did a video of the garden, should have dug out my old digital camera so I could get at least something worth looking at...

Now I have to wait 'til 2026 to get it right, assuming the human race hasn't blown itself to smithereens...
