I've got a laptop with just over 8GB in the OS / C drive, and about 20GB of unallocated space elsewhere

It would be great if I could merge the two sections, leaving the D drive alone which is full of other bits and bobs.

Would PArtition Magic allow me to do such a thing and if so, does anybody have a copy I can blag ?

I seem to remember that you can only expand partitions if free space is contiguous and adjacent to the partition.
But I think you can move the D drive to make the free space just so.
Do make a back-up first, pls.

Just-checking-questions:
- What OS are your using?
- What format are the partitions?

Take a look at Easus.com. There's a free version of their software that may be suitable

Check out MiniTool Partition Wizard, it's free and like st1 says just make sure you back up first.

Thanks, will try over the next couple of days.

I have in the meantime, been moving all non essential o/s files over to the D drive, freeing up around 1.2 GB, giving some breathing space.

I was wondering if I start with the original XP install disc (or possibly a more recent Windows one) the first stage of installation gives the option of deleting /combining partitions before installing any operating system. I could then exit before adding any files.
