Its been a bad week for satellite failures - we lost Eutelsat W2 last Thursday, now PAS 4 has gone dark.

According to Intelsat PAS 4 (72E) went off air at 00.18 GMT last night for currently unknown reasons:

I suppose we should be thankful that these things aren't common, in reality, and that there are contingencies to maintain service ............ but, for the superstitious, aren't things counted in threes?

So what next ???

hmm, _http://www.rapidtvnews.com/index.php/201002025746/more-satellite-troubles.html sugests this was the third...

Satmex5 is running on it's backup propulsion system (thus shortening it's life to about 2.5 years instead of the 4 left on it's design life)

Well let's hope there are no more!

Perhaps I had better put my laser pen in the bin :)
