I am completely new to satellite systems and I don't have any technical knowledge whatsoever. I would like to find out if I can watch the following in UK; ZTV on Europe* Star 1 and Multichoice (South Africa) on PAS 7. What equipment do I need??????

Your best bet would be an air ticket to South Africa!

For Pas 7 a big dish - its virtually on the horizon in the uk, and then only certain channels would be available.

A miracle for ZTV - its transmitted on a beam covering South Africa! Effectively you can rule out reception of either satellite.

I havent heard of any successful reception of Multichoice Africa in the uk.

You are in UK dying for Multichoice, I'm in Southern Africa tired of paying for Multichoice and hoping for a miracle to watch Hotbird or Astra. I have actually been thinking of a 6m dish to be tested for anything other than Multichoice! I know I can W2 for Madagascar but no use too.
Life's little fun stories. Hey if you succeed in anyway, let know, it means I can do the opposite here. I wish I could swap receptions with you- ha ha!

Perhaps boot_sectorz and eddymore could get together and, if they both have broadband, stream the required programmes to each other!

That would be wonderful. But I nly have broad band at the office. At home the fastest I get is a one way internet via SAT which would be ok for me but not for Eddmore.
This has had me thinking. Why can't they find a way to have satellite tranmission across the world. Like the way we use the net. Theres no satellites.co.uk accessed only in europe! Why not Telly?
