password changed config still working

Hi all

got 2 500s on card share using pli image with config working ok.

have changed the password on the client box using windows xp and telnet.

says changed ok logged in using config creator with new password ok just to check.

the card share still works without changing config on server.

Bit stuck as i expected it to stop ??

any help please
 
It sounds like you changed the root system password. This password has nothing to do with card sharing. They are completely separate things.

if i was to share the card again with a different box how would i determine which boxes were able to share or would i just need 2 f lines the same ?

basically just make a user name and pasword up.

these need to be on both config files IE C line and F line .

i was thinking it had to be some relevance to dreambox etc but that is not the case

Hello, first post here. I was wondering the same thing. Are you sure that if i manage to change root system password it won't affect any settings or whatever else? (ccam etc)
I will follow the instructions in post # 25 here: http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/dreambox-support-forum/140996-reset-root-password-plugin.html Will it do?
Also how can i pick other password than dreambox?
