RIP Paul.....In the mid 1970's (when my Dad and I had a corner tobacconist/confectioners in Middlesbrough) he traded from a mobile shop locally.

RIP Paul ...
I wasn't a huge fan ...but my mum and dad were ....
I on the other had was an occasional watcher.
I liked him ...not a lot ...but I liked him.
;)

Gosh that was so soon after the announcement of his illness.

I remember watching him on TV and the time I remember the best was when he was doing some simple(!) hand illusions and he did some trick right in front of a small boy's face and when the trick was completed the boy's eyes widened in complete amazement.

RIP Paul.

I have Paul to thank for my winning a £30 letter in The Sun.

In about 1988, I wrote to The Sun's Letters Page, and I said I didn't think Paul was very good as an entertainer. I lied. I was just saying it to try and win the £30 top prize for the best letter.

Anyway, I rambled on for about ten lines, and in my closing paragraph I wrote: 'You may like it kind sir, or you may not. PERSONALLY, I don't!'.

And that won £30. So thanks, Paul.

A legend. RIP. Another great gone. :(
