I don't often get Spam, but a superficially authentic looking EMail purporting to come from Paypal just landed in my Inbox.

It provides Links to kindly permit me to Update my Account info, which they claim is suspended until I click .....

Other giveaways ..... Sender Address doesn't include any mention of Paypal and it is addressed to Dear Customer. But Paypal always address you by the full proper Account Name.

Forget to say, I have accessed my Paypal Account using my Android App and, inevitably, all is well
 
Tips for spotting scam messages:

The real thing never:
1. opens it saying "Dear Customer", they will use your real name as associated with the account
2. spells subject lines or the message body incorrectly, like "Paypai", or Pavpal",
3. claims your account is suspended without good reason
4. includes a link to "log in" to your account
5. has the the sender address going to some made up jumble
6. insists you have a limited time to "unblock" your account

Keep them in mind and you'll never have to worry about the fakes... :)


Ironically, my Spam trap is rather empty today, there must have been a server raid or something somewhere in the world...
 
I got a different email

On webmail it looks like the text file but on my iPhone it looks a bit more convincing as you can see from the pic

Yes, I did try to upload mine as an image, but failed miserably!

Anyway, that's two variants on a theme sent in fairly quick succession.

It's rare for me to get such stuff, but fortunately not at all hard to identify as a scam.

By common sense and, no doubt, a healthy dose of good luck my entire Annual Spam haul is no more than half a dozen.

Beats me how come people can be so lax they end up with hundreds, though I can understand how that same lack of diligence can lead to some people can be taken in.
 
I don't even have a Paypal linked to that email address
