Good day

I have a DSL line connected to a my router, and iam using my wireless connection on my laptop to connect to the router, the router is DHCP and my laptop uses Windows Vista.

I got a new Dreambox 500, and it works great when connecting it with my router using UTP cable.

The problem is : the UTP cable is running across the room and it is tripping, i was wondering if it is possibe to connect my DB directly to my laptop using a Crossover cable to the RJ-45 network card on laptop and make it share the internet provided by the wireless connection, some sort of bridge i mean, or an ICS.

I tried connecting the DB to the Laptop, my Router is Speedtouch and it's IP is 192.168.1.254 , and my laptop gets a wirless IP of 192.168.1.64.

Now i have a working crossover cable and i don't know how to set my laptop to share the wireless net it is getting to the DB connected to the laptop through the RJ-45 network port.

The laptop uses Windows Vista , which made things worse coz i tried with the IPv4 setting and couldn't manage to make it work.

Thanks for your help in advance.

If you connect the Dreambox to your laptop with a crossover cable you'll need to configure ICS on the laptop.

I've not done it but search should turn up some old ICS threads.

Also look search on Enable IP routing. I haven't needed to use it since NT4 days but it may do the trick for you

within the networks folrder where it shows your net work connections right click on the wired and the wirless network icons and selected bridged connection, dont know if or how it works but i rememebr seeing it in there, as long as your computer is windows that is.

I used to use the crossover cable with my laptop, win xp. Cant remember what I did as it been a long time, but will be sorting it out over the weekend & will let you know how I get on with it.
