PCCW adds Discovery HD to Nat Geo
Hong Kong IPTV platform Now TV is slowly growing its high-definition offering, with the addition yesterday of Discovery HD to join rival Nat Geo HD. Now TV, owned by PCCW, now has four HD channels, launching HD sports services in July 2007, followed by the National Geographic HD channel in December.
Nat Geo and Discovey are hotly contesting HD roll outs worldwide. The launch on PCCW brings Discovery HD’s channel count to 15 with services in territories including Japan, Canada, the UK, Poland, Sweden and Singapore. The channel provides independently-programmed schedules in each market.
Discovery HD will cost HK$50 (US$6.40) a month as a stand-alone service or HK$35 for subscribers to Discovery’s other channels on the platform through the Ultimate Discovery Pack. The fees are the same as for the Nat Geo HD channel.
