Hi guys, I'm going to be doing a motorised dish installation on a pebbledash wall.

Just a quicky, but as already said in numerous occasions, you should bolt into the brick and not the mortar joints to ensure a firm fixing. But with pebbledash you can't see the bricks, so what do people generally do?

Any suggestions appreciated.

But.. was hoping for something better, ( if there is actually another feasible option of course)
 
If you TK it, you'd be unlucky to find that all fixing points are in the mortar joints of the brick.

Pebbledash often hides very poor brickwork and cement joints. I would suggest hacking away a small neat area first then you can see the brick quality and work out where the joints are for avoidance. Simple repair to where hacked out.
Use the 'pebbles' you disturb on the repair cement patch.

You'll have to brush some of the pebbles off to get the brackets to sit close to the wall and make them easier to align. I normally use a 6mm drill to make a pilot hole and see if brick dust comes out, then another for the other side of the bracket, if the second doesn't bring brick dust, I'll try slightly lower for both.

It is a bit of trial and error, but very rarely have more than two abortive holes. :)
