People don't read ebay descriptions

As you may be aware I am trying to sell my 4 tuner satellite receiver. They clearly haven't read the description in the auction because they keep messaging me telling me they can buy the same cheaper elsewhere. They even include item numbers, web links. I take a look and find that auction or web page is for a dual tuner version, ie two tuners. I reply back to them and say that only has 2 tuners which is why it is cheaper and explain to them mine has 4 tuners installed, the second card cost me £60. The receiver you directed me to only has 1 card which has two tuners installed.

Clearly people aren't reading the description or I am not being clear enough. These people are driving me crackers.

Interesting, I've sold many (non-satellite) things on eBay for myself and a number of other people and no one has ever contacted me to advise me to change my price!! I assumed if they didn't like the price I was offering they went elsewhere. Occasionally if I've got an item on as a Buy It Now with Offers Accepted they might come in with a cheeky offer but that's about it.

Do you mention in your title that the item has four tuners?

Yes. I even have it in big capital letters. Here is part of it:

"*Please note this has 4, yes FOUR satellite tuners installed.*

This is a brand new unused Vu+ Duo2 Linux based Satellite Receiver which has 2 x twin dvb-s2 tuners installed giving 4 tuner capability(the tuners can be swapped out, a dvb-t2 card can be installed and you can plug in external tuners). This receiver can record up to 4 HD channels"

Tell em if they can get it cheaper elsewhere to buy that one instead of wasting both yours time, the price is the price, they wouldn't go see Abdul in the corner shop and tell him the garage is selling Lambert and Butler cheaper than him, if they did he'd chase them

They potential buyer will know exactly what your selling, they'll be trying it on to get you to drop the price, if I seen something cheaper elsewhere I'd buy it elsewhere, I certainly wouldn't goto M&S to tell them Waitrose is cheaper for the fun of it lol

Well they do say the masses are asses.

Yes, I tell them to go buy elsewhere. I like your example smoggy. :)

At work people phone up for quotes on taxi fares and they're always trying it on like that

They try and play you off against other companies saying this company will take them somewhere for £XX, I tell them we're the cheapest in the area and if someone can beat us they should ring them back and book :-rofl2

They don't like it but it works, although 8 out of 10 times I can check the bookings later in the evening and they've called back to book

For the most part, I don't have an issue with eBay buyers but there are definitely a good number who are, quite simply, idiots. And yes, I've had a few people buying stuff off me without reading the description in full and then moaning about not receiving what they expected.

I have a huge problem with eBay itself where the buyers are far more protected than the sellers are.
