Are there any sats that transmit any US TV particularly regional news, that can be received in the Central UK?

I would particularly like to pick up California, Nevada or Florida news

None of the regional channels have beams firing over to Europe so the answer is definite no. A Slingbox in the US would be the only way

What genre are you referring to? just news?

Basically I am referring to all US tv they do not transmit to Europe. Yes there are sometimes the odd feed here and there but generally the transmission footprint does not reach here.

Loads of posts on the forum about a slingbox, basically it is an stb stateside that transmits the program over the internet to wherever you are. Of course you need to maintain the subscription over there

There are plenty of radio stations on satellite providing local US news, but more are available by using streaming

_http://www.usliveradio.com/news-talk.html

Or you might find something interesting on here

_http://www.mediascrape.com

Some of the regional stations will be available on the newsfeeds as previously stated, but it is worth looking at the C-Span broadcasts for the 'Breaking News' events, in much the same way as Euronews has on their 'No Comment' sections.

As with all the less popular content, the larger the dish the better, as is the ability to look nearer the horizon for obscure feeds.

hi toall
if you go to the tpoic of 61.5 degrees west there is a discussion going about picking direct tv in tenerife test card.
this will not work with a europian lnb at all.
different lo and pol. as well.
mpeg 4 is used in usa.
its still early to see if this is receivable in europe.

Hello!
the only way,to get, most of the us channels, for us all here on board is,to find someone, with a sling box in usa, that will send us the stream!
i have usa sling box,but still no tv source for:)

iam not sure,is the number,of person, limited or unlimted, that can connect, over one stream to the box!

there are not many members from usa here, only 3 or 2,maybe the knows a tv source!

the problem,in europe,is that the upload rates, are to slow, with only 768 kbit on most dsl lines,i hope in usa they have symetric lines, for the puplic ,that ofers, the same speed in both directions!?

Generally speaking it one box = one viewer, although there was a suggestion on the SB forums a while back someone had managed to run multiple stream somehow. For obvious reasons the method wasnt published!

US TV has been caught on the far western tip of Ireland on a large satellite dish a few times. It is the thread above this one. There is a service for the US Army in Europe but I 'd suppose it is propriety to the US Military.

yes its afn,in germany,in many citys, and also neaples in italy,it sends free over dvb t,but,in a very low limited signal receiving radius!
other questions,to the us members here
what is the eastern satelite in usa, that is posible to receive?

i could imagine, that it also works,to receive european tv in usa
like the brazil man with the 8 meter dish, but i wondering, that i never hear any reports about it!
there are the world best dish manufactors,in this country, with every size avalible, and only one man, with a selfmade dish, can receive astra,in usa nabour country brazil!

when some enthusiast,would try,the same,iam sure,it would also a succsesfull projekt:)

Yes, both, dish net and dir ectv are in L and R polarization.
ntv+ on 36e is exactly the right example!

Oh Good Morning!

yes,i know it,was looking on the lnb, when i could test direct tv,in florida on my viacttion around 3 years ago!
and also every circular lnb,on dotcom ebay is for that polarisation!

the "easyer" way to try catch signals, from usa, from irland with large dishes would be in cband @ 43 west,on the panamarica beam, sending a hd tv package

try this parameter

3,718 GHz, v, 21,259 3/4

Movie City Este (HD), The Film Zone Este and Movie City

the freqency has been changed 2 days ago ,before it sending 3744!

Apparently if you cool the LNB to extremely low temperatures it will pick up far more signal and thus enable a smaller dish to pick up signals usually reserved for a much bigger dish size. I saw it on Dr. Dish Network TV, the links can be found here IIRC. There have been reports from the Nordic Countries and Russia and Canada for a while about how they pick up the most unusual Satellites when the tempeture belows drop well below. Apparently Ralph Schumacher in Brazil is looking into cryogenically freezing his LNB by wrapping it in some sort of cooling jacket to improve signal on his 8metre dish in Brazil.

Dr. Dish Network
&
Tele Satellite Magazine

are both great sources of info, look them up!
