I have noticed that the picture on my 8000 seems to (how can i describe it, anyways this is the best i can describe) the picture seems to stutter on fast frames, or should i say, not run smoothly, any ideas why?? it seemed alright a few weeks ago
what should i have the box picture settings on??
also i am using a 1080p full hd tv

could it be a problem with the dvi-hdmi lead?? or a fault on the box, cos it was ok just before christmas, at 1st i thought it was the tv but i have since got a new 1 and its doing the same on that too

I think in order to get a response to this question you need to give more specific details of when it is happening, the exact scenario...what channel are you watching , was it a subscription service or other, what is the program being watched is it fast action football match or golf?

There are hundreds of variables to choose from and you are not providing many of them, has your dish moved, what is your signal strength on the channel you were watching at the time etc etc otherwise you will end up with a thread of a thousand guesses

It is nothing to do with signal strength or subscription service, i know that as a fact, it is to do with either the connection from the box to the tv or the picture settings..

the best way i can describe it is, sudden and fast movements, its a blur

Well if you insist it is just the DM 8000, contact the manufacturer and ask them

i might try changing the connection from HDMi slot 3 (for mainly DVI devices) to HDMi slot 2, that could be the problem, if not then I have eliminated 1 possible problem,

was also thinking, could it be a nabilosat image problem??

I am looking at all possible angles before looking to see if its a problem with the box itself cos i don't fancy sending it to get looked at and then having to set the box back up again from scratch...

I don't even think there is a way to capture a couple secs of video to upload onto here for a propper diagnosis,
any solutions/ideas then please post,

Thanks

Its not the image, defo. Try the different inputs on the TV, that takes 10 seconds. Finally, record something for 2 mins. FTP the recorded TS file from the box to your PC. Convert it to mpg or whatever and upload it for us to see.

ok, I've tried swapping the lead from HDMi 3 to HDMi 2 on the TV, still the same,
recorded a couple seconds clips on the harddrive, still the same..
also checked via the SCART output, thats the same also

copied a .TS file from the box to the computer, played it and it seems ok, but on the box it still have the picture problem,

hi marcaaron 20

im no electronics expert far from it, but if its recording ok and playing fine on pc, then its got to be the output from the box that is faulty, because tuner input is receiving good clear signal for you to record and play on PC ? try ftp to pc, if thats the same then all outputs doing same, must be the box

if it is a fault on the box, what can I do to sort it??

Return it to your supplier for testing. You did buy it from an official retailer I hope.

I bought the box from satstore.co.uk, and it was last March/April if I remember correctly

From your previous posts: The problem has to be after the stream has been received and decoded, this leaves the firmware/driver that handles the DVI-out, the cable or your TV.
"it was working fine a couple of weeks ago" - what changed since then, if anything?
Did anybody fiddle with the settings on the TV? Most 1080p TVs have settings to 'improve' fast moving scenes (like sport) and sometimes these have a very detrimental effect on general picture quality. Check your TV settings. If possible, try it on a different TV.

I know you are reluctant to have to rebuild the box, but if you want to send it back, you should install the bog standard image before returning it, to avoid questions being asked. Because this is the case, I would be inclined to install a newly downloaded image on the box, in case there is a corruption in the version you downloaded or it might have got corrupted while on the box. If the new version auses the same problems, then go down the route of returning it for repair.
Note: I would only do minimum configuration on the new image, just enough to test it. DO NOT SAVE AND USE THE SETTINGS FROM YOUR CURRENT VERSION, in case they are bad and causing the problem.
1. Install the new image.
2. Set up the satellites.
3. Scan the satellite where you have the problem.
4. set up your CAMs.
5. test.

I would not enable any bouquets or EPG before testing. If the box works, then add required features, one at a time, and check that the box still works after adding each one.

Update: This is a better way of describing the picture problem;
Its not fast moving stuff where I have the problem, its sudden movements on the screen there is a blur/stutter,
I have not touched or changed any settings on both the old TV and the new TV, neither have I changed any picture settings on the box, I have not altered the settings from before or after the problem,

Is there something that I can do on the box before or without having to start from scratch again??
I have put up with it for a week or so, I can't cope with it much more, especially when the box cost £900, I can't just sit on the problem and hope it will correct itself and I will have to be quick about it also if it does need sending off to get repaired cos its 2 or 3 months away from being a year since I bought it so I don't know where I stand after that year unless the box has a 2 year warranty,

Please guys, all availble options will be much appreciated,
Thanks

Despite my ealier comment I would flash it just to rule it out. Don't be frightened by starting again just do your backups and double check you got everything. It takes me 10 minutes to do an image update on my 8000, its really not a big deal.

I will stick my suggestions above as it willbe the quickest way to establish whether it is faulty hardware or not.
As B16MCC suggests, you can take backups of all your settings, BUT DO NOT USE THEM DURING TESTING as they might be the cause of the problem. Start fresh and set up from scratch. It should not take more then 30 minutes to do, and As I said before; you have to flash the original image before sending it back in any event.
Any tweaks/fiddles on the box will be exactly that as from your description it is difficult to work out what is causing the problem. The best way forward to a systematic way of building the system, in an organised way, to see if the problem returns and which option causes the problem to return.

You mention an 'old TV' and 'new TV'. Does it do the same on both? Artefacts, pixelation and blurring are also symptoms of problems inherent in some digital TVs (or software updates on some), so it is important to test it on more than one TV to see if the problem persists. Finding problems like these is never easy and unless you put in the effort to eliminate each possibility, one at a time, you will never get to the bottom of it.

If you send in the box for repair, it will be returned to its basic state, so flashing it and testing a newly flashed image will not put you in worse situation than you are currently in.
If you dont reflash, I don't think we can help you.

update: ok, re-flashed the box as you said, and I am still getting the same problem, and thats even without loading everything back on, just the basic, scanned in a satellite, tried a channel is still the same, so whats my next option??

Considering the waranty runs out in a month or so, I think now is the time to get the box back to satstore and replaced if it is faulty.

Looks like I'm sending it back to satstore to get it looked at,
Should I leave the box as it is when I send it back or put it back to its original flash/image??
Also, the HDD inside which I bought and installed, am I ok taking that out so that my recordings don't get damaged or wiped??

When I get the box back or if it ends up getting replaced will I be able to put the HDD back in and still have the recordings that are on there??
