Hello,

I've been on the forum for awhile and had a motorised dish set up for me about 2 years ago.

I have decided I want to do one myself.

I have a 60cm dish, a quad LNB, F connectors & satellite cable already. Now I'm stuck.

I'm looking for help on the following:

1) Recommendations of a motor?
2) Recommendations of the best place to get some brackets?
3) Do I need a pole? I'd like to mount the dish on the side of my house.
4) Am I missing anything else?

I plan to waste money and wreck the house as I'll go wrong somewhere. Just thought it would be fun to install one myself. :)

Thanks,

When I said waste money, I don't intend to spend too much. :)

Tivu - am I right in guessing you have that?

No, because I'm also a cheapskate and their is life left in my old Motecks!

But the TM2600 is the most recommended DiSEqC motor right now.

Looks a decent piece of kit, now for the rest.

You may also want to consider a Clarke Tech HH390 motor. A bit more expensive than a Technomate but mines been ultra reliable. Nothing wrong with the Technomate, it's just an alternate.

You'll also need some T&K's and a length of scaffold pole......oh, and a large pneumatic drill if you really intend to wreck the house.

brackets wise for 60cm a set of t&k brackets will be fine.

you will need to work out which size you will need to get the best range of satellites due to your house position

do you need another motor dish as you could do a static one for the most watched satellites 13e, 19e etc

If you are a real cheapskate, go looking round the area for somebody with a large dish that looks like it's not being used and ask to take it down.

Quite often they will say yes

Actually that's probably true - at the top end of our village, attached to a disused barn by a Cottage belonging to the local Landowner is a 1.2m dish plus actuator.

It precedes the eight years we've lived here and was apparently put up on behalf of an Arabic tenant.

Clearly redundant, but I don't have space for it myself - If I asked, I've no doubt it would be mine, though.

Thanks for the responses. In answer to some questions:

@wod - I'd like a second motor yes, I'd like the ability to record/watch different satellites simultaneously etc.

Is a pole needed? Or does it depend on the house and the position the dish is being placed?

Just one set of T&Ks will do? I've read different opinions on their positioning, what are your thoughts?

@channelhopper - on another note, did you get a chance to see my response about the NHL and Viasat?

I asked about it about 5 mins before it started. I watched it via NHL GameCenter.

The way Viasat list it is, say under Tuesday, they're talking about games on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
