Hi everyone,im wanting to get myself a new sat box for my motorised system and i want to know what receiver to get so i can watch as many channels as possible without buying mega bucks official cards so a one where i can type in keys or use my computor to download them into the new box.as i have seen many on the market im a bit confusssssed to which one i should buy,,,,,,any help would be a great help,thanx.
 
Hi , Technomate 1500 is a very good box to buy at the moment with lots of support , but watch out , they just brought out new models of the Techno now with usb port to record on a external hdd . Also the 6000 series , if you have a hd tv . The mother of them all is a Dreambox if you are good with linux .

Yes I agree with mariust. The TM1500ci+ is a good choice and will also enable you to put official cards/CAMs in there at a later date if you so desired.

The TM1000D is virtually the same as the 1500 but without the card and CAM slot.

The TM5200D is really the replacement for the TM1000D but has the USB port and also a 10,000 channel memory rather than the 5000 that the TM100 has.

As far as I know, we are still waiting for a version of the TM5200D that has the CAM and card slots.

All the standard TM models have the same user interface and very easy to use and set up.

The TM1000D/5200D come in at about £60 at the moment, the 1500 about £25-£30 more.

The trouble with the TM1000D that I had was that the blind scan was so slow that it was a waste of time using it. Despite that they are quite cheap and well supported at the present.
The TM1500 has the same good level of support and a good blind scan facility but slightly more expensive.
There was a flurry of interest, earlier in the year, with Vantage receivers. They are reported to be more sensitive for low level reception, have good blind scan and are patchable. But the support is not the same as the Technomates. Good value for money.
As are the Clarke- Tech boxes which are patchable and have blind scan.

get a dreambox m8, expensive but opens many more packages than
others, and you can even use it to watch sky with official card
ofcourse.

Have you got the super or the TMS model?

There is a problem with the TMS models with the blind scan not working properly. I have the 'super' and the blind scan works perfectly. Can't remember exactly how long it takes, but it certainly is minutes rather than hours.

The TM linux box is TM's version of a Dreambox, but not so well supported apparently, but a lot cheaper.

Darkman patches for the technomate 1000 series are the best and a great price, i have a pheonix apollo which i have converted to an openbox 820 which i reckon has the best software support. The openbox has a progam called pobedit which lets you edit all settings on your pc and transfer them over to the reciever very quickly. If i was to buy a new box though it would have to be the tm.. hope this helps
