For what frequency and dish design ?
my dish is a mabo think it was made in poland 1.85m offset aluminium.
as regards the frequency im after all the circular ones thats available to me.
have been told its better to use a polariser barrel than the dielectric plate, thing is im not sure if the polariser barrel is more suited to prime focus than offset dishes??.

A polariser barrel is a mechanical depolariser, it requires a bolt on feed at one end, and a transition at the other end to allow connection to a cpr or wr229 lnb (or omt and two lnbs)

Do you have a C-band feed and clamping arrangement for the dish design, or one with a locking screw (or two) to bolt a sleeve in the middle ?

'ere butchyboy, this is how did it for a client who wanted a polo pipe for C-Band on an offset focus dish.

AV-COMM polo pipe with a Zinwell LNB shoved in one end and a cone heed scalar on t'other end.
Clamp it so that is is the correct focal distance and aimed correctly at the dish and job done.

You can shove any C-Band LNBF in the end, provided the LNBF outer diameter and the inner diameter of the polo pipe are matched to each other.
I have used a similar setup with a flat scalar and a Titanium LNBF on one of my prime focus dishes.

any pics of it mounted to the dish cause where would you mount the 2nd vertical bolt on a offset dish

No pics of it mounted, the picture I uploaded above was a mock up before it was installed for a client.
You can clamp it using one clamp, that setup you got from Rima has got plenty of adjustment scope to aim it at the correct point on the dish.

Why not try the dish with a simple LNBF and dielectric plate first?
It is an easier option to setup to get you started.

Once you got a sniff of C-Band with that you can decide if you wanna shell out wad for a polo pipe.
Whatever signal level you get with the LNBF and dielectric plate you can be confident there is more juice to get from the dish using a polo pipe.

can i use the above lnb i posted pics of and just get a dielectric plated in to the throat.and i would not need to use the wires on it as there for mechanical polarisation.
would i get the c band circular polarisation with just the plate inside the above lnb?.and see how we get on with that first before investing in the pipe barrel

What have you got that would fit it on the dish ?

You may also need to install everything inverted.

I think butchyboy is mainly interested in 40.5W and possibly 55.5W?

There would be no need for inversion for 40.5W assuming his offset dish has an offset angle around 20 degrees?
Depending on the LNB boom clearance from the ground there is possibly no need of inversion for 55.5W from a Southern Ireland location as he seems to have enough dish height to cope?

He needs to get a cheepo C-Band LNB on the dish, get scanning and see what happens, then take it from there.

Yes -I think the same M.B. ... Lots of knowledge to be gained at minimal cost.

Water ingress into the feed, keep up !

There is no need to be rude, I was trying to help butchyboy get started.
Besides, it is not that difficult to apply some type of suitable covering to the feed throat opening to prevent water ingress.

A simple cover over the conical feedhorn will stop that. Vipersan did exactly that and so did I when I had my offset dish up..

I have yet to see any polarmounted offset dish run into issues of pole, or ground clearance when non-inverted.

Inverting will also allow an easier counterweight design, once the Mabo starts chewing up actuators.
