Pop Idol interactive billed as the "biggest interactive service" from the channel will officially go live on Saturday 13th September. For the first time, fans will be able to vote for their favourite singer using their remote control. This is in addition to the selection of popular voting options available to viewers during the first series of Pop Idol, including premium rate telephony, text and internet. Jane Marshall, ITV’s Interactive Controller who commissioned Pop Idol-Interactive, said: “Our new service will be easy to use and give fans as much Pop Idol information as they could want or need, at any time of day. Voting will be simple, and viewers don’t have to leave their sofas or miss any of the show, as well as enjoying all the extra games whenever they want to.
