In preperation for changes in my Vbox arangements ..
The first of a combined AZ/EL 2 positioner unit being planned ...I thought it would be prudent to note the various switches and ports currently in service ..
I do get very forgetful..
So by posting it here I will have a record I can refer to ...and also other members might find it interesting.

Are you doing away with your polar mount Evan ?, be nice to see how you go with this, surely in the end it will be just two v boxes and having to switch on off to work the other ?.

No buddy ..
will still use the polar mounts ..but added elevation control ..for fine tweaking ..lnbs at differing heights ...plus inclined birds etc.
I do this already ..
simply reducing 2 vboxes into one case with a common switch mode psu ..
Less heat ..more efficiency ..and motors run at 24volts instead of 36v..
Slower travel ..more accuracy/less chance of overshoot.

Each unit/vbox only has to be turned on or off seperately during setup ..
Once set up ..one diseqc 1.2 command will move both AZ and or EL ..if needed and a position had been set..
hope this makes sense.

If you think about it ...a motorised dish on a polar mount can only truely track the arc with the focal lnb..
offset lnbs far from the focus cant ..so having elevation control is really useful for offset lnbs..
particularly with ka lnbs as these need critical positioning...unlike say.. an offset Cband lnb which is more forgiving.

True, its an obstacle I will be dealing with myself in the near future, my controller is AZ/EL if its not software that makes the controller polar I will be making a AZ/EL mount and adding LNB skew.

But I guess you cant beat a full face dish pointing at the weak signals.
