Hello, I will be making a portable satellite dish base, three reasons for this, one it gets round planning permission two I can move it out of the way when not in use three it will give me more satellites,

Nothing started but ive picked a few bits up for the build, levelling system and wheels, I have a fair bit of steal work in my workshop,

From reading up the structure needs to be 6ftx6ft and it needs to hold 1.3 tonne this will be well on the top side of any wind conditions,

A rough layout of the build below I will update here when work starts

I'll follow this with interest BM....
I was thinking of instead of having such a large base area, say 5ft x 5ft, i would sink some flush fixing points either side of it's resting operational position to anchor it down ??..possibly

Hello John, once you start putting fixings in the ground its classed as fixed PP would be needed, I guess you could leave it in view while the dust settles then do it.

If you were going to have a regular position for the dish ie at the end of path or trolley runway you could sink some plastic pipe into the ground at the four corners and then drop 4 locating pins into place for a secure mounting, when play time is ended remove the pins and wheel dish away. hopefully this would still be classed as Temporary! as the pins would be removable.

OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Custom built PC

Make it capable to hold 1300 liters of water, that way all you have to do is drain it to move it.

Make the wheels retractable, wheel it out, retract the wheels fill it with water your done, drain it to move it.

Laid it all out today to get an idea how many bolts needed and to see how I will fix the levelling system, all 4 corners will need work to take 450x450 paving slabs, I have around 70 removed from where the decking is now, I am estimating around half tonne of steel to this point will weigh it before fitting.

Just a thought, If you have a retractable pool?

I know this is a serious thread, but I could not resist.
I´ll bar myself from the forum!
