Hi everybody, just a little report to inform a nice reception from Astra 28.2 UK beam on Marugán, Segovia with a 1.2m dish, margin of 3 dB.

Regards,

E.

How can you get so strong signal with a so little dish?
DVB-S2 8PSK FEC 3/4 requires no less than 8.5dB for a good lock (signal is unlocked at around 8.0-8.2 dB). 3dB margin means that you have around 11.5dB, very high in Spain that is out-of-beam I believe.
Maybe any side lobe? Very interesting topic.

On which frequencies?
There is a noticable difference between 11053 H and 10847 V (both DVB-S2 8PSK) just to mention a weak and a strong one at my place. Another one which is among the weaker is 11306 H (DVB-S) and another strong one is 10818 V (DVB-S2 8PSK).

Generally Astra 2F is the weakest and 2E the strongest here.

Have my dish pointing at 28,35 E which is the best way to get stable reception of 2E at 28,5 E and 2F and 2G at 28,2 E.

Hello again, I tune the dish with a DrHd analyser, a fantastic spectrum analyser, and the weakest freq is 10818V.
The sky was blue and sunny day, I am in a village clean of noise. Next week I will take some screeshots to show you. The map with report in Salamanca in this website was very useful for deciding try to buy the dish.

That the antenna is fixed (and not motorized) also helps a lot, more better signal.
