Can any one advise if you should be able to measure any supply voltage on the co axial to the dish. I have been unable to get satelite finder to work and when I check the cable I can only measure 0.2 V even directly from the back of the TV ( Panasonic with built in Freesat). The co axial cable is not damaged and has good continuitity.
 
Yes. Around 13 volts with a V Transponder selected and around 18 volts for H.
 
Might be worth checking the LNb set up config, although I've never seen a Pana with this fault or know if there is such a setting on the on screen menu.
 
Some of the first generation Viera's with Freesat did have some issues with the module, but from memory they were swapped out without quibble.

Have you tried resetting the TV back to factory conditions and connecting a volt meter direct to the tuner input when first switched on ?

how are you measuring this voltage??
its d.c and not ac.
you should get 13 v dc vert and 18 volts dc horiz.
your box might need reseting as well
if you unplug the box from the mains and reset the box then power the box up again and measure it from the box outer is negative and
center from the f conector its 14 or 18 v dc.
your voltmeter probe may not go in far enough to make contact as well.
i use a needle and insert it then for sure i can take a reading.
if after all that you get .2 v the box is bad.

Sorry but what do you mean by horizontal and vertical and how do you measure these seperately?

The supply to the LNB has several functions: Powering the active components of the LNB and performing Polarity switching and band switching.

In order to switch band, a 22KHz tone is applied.

In order to switch polarity, a step change in the voltage from 13 volts to 18V does the job.

So the voltage you should expect to see depends upon whether the channel selected is Vertically polarised, or Horizontally.
 
You shouldn't need to measure these separately. Either voltage measurement would be enough to tell you if the TV is delivering line power. Signals are either horizontally or vertically polarised. A satellite receiver sends a voltage to the LNb and it's this voltage that determines what polarisation is selected.
