I've had the precision pf dish for quiet a while now its been a great dish but. the scaffold pole flexes in the wind, its moved a few times on the pole and the feedhorn cover has fallen apart so it needs maintenance!
I've been planning for sometime to replace it with a channelmaster, the 76mm pole has been in the garage for 5 years, the base plate was made 2 years ago and just needs welding to the pole. In the ground i have a concrete block with 4 mounting studs completed about the time i bought the pole.I've got a cm 1.2 behind the shed supplied by rolfw (Thanks Again) when he was having a clear out a while back. So when i got the cm mount last week its pushed me to get the job done.

Not 100% sure yet, the mount is suitable for a 50mm pole so its a common size, if it was mounted in a sheltered position rather than above the gutter it would be rock steady. its a good dish! i think i will store it for a while.

Let us know that the 76mm pole is like over the gutter, play-wise. I have a 2m 76mm pole as well (ooerr!) so wondering what that will be like over the gutter with a 1.2m dish.

I'm going to fit t&k brackets as well as ground fixing, trying to over engineer for safety and do the job once. it sticks up above the gutter about the same as the scaffold pole will see exactly when its up and i'm hoping being 76mm there will not be any whip in it.

I managed to get the pole up and one k bracket made this week, the pole is plumb i used the bolts at the base to level it. still got another bracket to be made, i'm going to fix it to the other wall to spread the load. The wall is soft sand stone block under render when i fitted the other pole i used expanding bolts but as i tightened them they pulled out! ended up fixing them with resin. This time i used 14mm fischer plugs if they loosen in time i can get some resin again.IMG_0416a.jpg IMG_0414ab.jpg

@purplemarina Do you think if you post your pictures bigger than 50kb (little bit better resolution), admins will kill you?!:-rofl2 For sure they will not do that, especially today, as it is Sysadmin Day today. Lets congratulate our admins BTW.

IMG_0433.jpg IMG_0439.jpg Made a start on the polar mount, got it stripped and rubbed down and a coat of primer applied. There was some play in one of the bronze bearings so i am going to see if i can get some locally. IMG_0433.jpg IMG_0439.jpg

Inside the mount where it fits to the pole there is some abrasive material that looks like emery paper, it grips the pole to stop the mount turning. This needs replacing as its falling apart, i've found a 5m roll at toolstation for £4.50 its called Anti-slip tape.

I am not sure, but, perhaps it is because polar-mount was designed to stay little bit bigger pipe's diameter. Anyway, it is common issue. I do not think that some kind of sand paper is better solution to prevent mount turning around the pipe. I used couple of pieces of pipes to put between mount and main pipe. That helped to tighten mount screws.

The "sandpaper" seems to be original fitment, but i am think of drilling the mount and pole and fitting a locking bolt when all fine tuning is finished there is no chance of the pole rotating as its ground mounted so once its on the arc it should stay there.
RimaNTSS good clear sharp pictures! :D

With regards to the pics I normally resize mine to 1024*768. Thats a good compromise between size (viewability) of the picture and download times for anyone on slow connection.

You can get freeware software to batch resize multiple pictures Pixresizer is good (but only ever work on copies of anything you want to keep long term as its far to easy to overwrite the originals!)
