complete novice needs to know what set up do l need to receive footie games without sky. l have heard of hotbird and dreamboxes but unsure what to buy. do we need a viewing card, a motorised dish & sat box ?
how big a dish would we need and what other channels can we get ?

Find ljs - google ljs and click on Live Sport on Satellite TV.

Click the UK /Ireland tab and you get a complete list of all UK football on TV for the next 2-4 weeks. Check through the listings yourself to see what is avaliable, but you will notice that you need a motorised dish to get a good choice of matches.

There is not that much football on Hotbird, which is "free", but the majority of games are on Thor @1W, but they will not be "free" for much longer, as the encryption will change to Nagra 3, which is secure at the moment.

You would need a motorised system to avail of all the games and need a 1Mtr dish at least. You would not need a Dreambox receiver for the games, and it might be worth while considering your purchase of a box, HD is one consideration, but not that much on the HD yet, not that does not require a subscription anyway.

What you must also consider is the fact that in this game you have no guarantee that things will not change, things are always in a fluid state and things are changing all the time, so please remember that what you might be able to receive today, might well not be the next day.

Some people buy cards for providers who show games, but they can be costly. I watch most games on Thor and get games which sly do not show, the 3PM kick offs.

you can pick up spl matches for free on Badr 4 on a channel called KTV3 Kuwait.
