Just read that Ofcom have revoked Press TV's Licence for breaching Editorial Control rules.

Not sure of the details, but it's a bit of a shame if we can't have easy access to other points of view than standard Western European ones.

Personally, I hope they can overcome whatever the nitty-gritty of the breach was and get Gorgeous George back on air.

I do despair of Ofcon sometimes - they have a touching faith that Press TV is no longer available in the UK. So what was I watching on Hotbird yesterday - fairy dust?

Yes, but yer actual "Sky" and Freesat punters don't have Hotttie - and I see Llew has just posted up details of it appearing on 7E instead of Eurobird 1.

Think they did it because they didn't pay a fine they gave them either.

This "martyrdom" is unfortunately self-inflicted by them. Ofcom offered help and they didn't cooperate. I hardly see Press TV a victim...

Also the amount of vile propaganda on that channels makes me think of the Korean Central News Agency. Even each syllable they say should always be double checked with reliable sources.

But the point is people can believe or disbelieve what they want, rather than being fed a diet of bland European "democracy knows best" stuff.

And have you seen Fox News?

Yes, in my eyes it is in the same category with Press TV. Yes, people believe what they want to believe. As for myself, I feel sorry for anyone who watched to Press for "truth." Yes, some people like if the television is cheerleading their idiology but the language Press TV is using on air is downright unacceptable for a news operation. Once again, you still have Astra and Hotbird. If one is really thirsty for that channel, one will likely make necessary technological arrangements.

Oh I have all available Satellites - but many of our friends in the UK do not.

Yes I do agree Press TV can go one way as
Fox/Sky news can go the other.

But you and I should have the freedom to chose what you
watch and belief . Than is Freedom of choice!!!

My point exactly - one man's sh*t is another man's fertiliser.

In February 2007 we had an Egyptian guy stay with us for a month. At the time I didn't have the choice of broadcasters I do now but he was appalled by the biased depiction and reporting of Islam and Muslim issues by both the BBC and $ky. Much better to have a wide choice of information then decide for yourself.
