Hi folks Im back on the sat scene after a year in exile Im looking to change my setup which currently is 1m Triax with 20 degree bracket single lnb's on 13 16 19 28 east

I want to change this to pick up 1 west so Im looking at 1 west through to 19 east just about the limit in which my bracket will stretch

Im not bothered about getting 28 east with this dish

Q1 Will I need to get a 1.1 or 1.2m dish or could I get away with my 1m

Q2 In this scenario which would be the primary central focus lnb for the dish

My location is 3 degrees west 54 degrees north

my multi lnb bracket is the traix 20 degree multi lnb holder

Many Thanks

110cm I would have thought. Unless you've done the mod to the bracket, you won't get a feed on dead focal. Given the line up, somewhere central around 9e.

Your coordinates quoted puts you in the North West but location states SE?

Hi Satelliteman - not sure why my profile says south east I will have to change that Im definately north west near Fleetwood Lancashire - Im happy to go 110cm but would 13 or 16 east be my central lnb I looked at your multi lnb diagram and tried to work it out from there so Im thinking as 1 west will be my furthest south on the bracket and 19 east my furthest east I guess the central lnb will be 13 or 16

Your main problem will be 16E. It depends on what tps you need, but in general, a 1m dish with its LNB at the focal point is needed to get all. That of course would put 1W too far away. Without 16E, then a 1W to 19E would be OK.

Which sat is currently at your focal point?

When you say focal point I presume you mean the most central lnb so my current focal point in an 13 16 19 and 28 setup is Looking at the dish from the rear of the LNB's 16 east is Focal 13 east is next to it on the right - 19 is the other side of the lnb dish arm to the left and 28 is almost at the end of the lnb holder again to the left However I want to change this to 19,16,13,1w and get rid of 28 east I could post a picture if I knew how

Misread; if you want the weaker 16e transponders, it might be a struggle to get 1w on that dish/bracket as mentioned. Maybe look at a wave frontier T90 designed for multi LNb set up.

Some 16e transponders are difficult here on a 1m, you have to decide which satellite of the three at 16e you want to optimize!

Hi Folks I want to open this one up again - I think I may just opt for the wavefinder torodial dish given that thats got an optimised reflector and it might just be more fine tuneable than a 1.1m triax also its not as big but secondly it got a 45 degree span instead og the 20 degree triax - Has anyone had any experience wuith these Ive read a couple of posts which suggest its not all it made out to be it has limitations I need to order this today tomorrow so would appreciate any help not so much in setting it up but any limitations the dish has or any negatives - Thanks

I have decided to opt for triax 1.1m and 20 degree multi lnb bracket mainly because it was 65 quid all in and the torodial dish was £135 excluding delivery I figured that I could achieve the same given the satellites Im after and my location However I want to pick up on a few points discussed in this thread - There was some sceptisism around getting the weaker channels on 16 east but due to my location 54n and 3w my central focus will be 13.5 degrees approx and the elevation difference would make it fairly simple to pick up those channels I beleive - had my central focus been 9 east or something then there may have been an issue I will post the outcome when I have installed at the weekend is it possible to upload some pictures? thanks for the input

Hi Folks well I did get this setup to work However there was some drawbacks - 1 West 40 percent signal quality 13 East 90 percent 16 East 80 percent 19 east 90 percent - My main problem was the bit error rate on 1 west I was not happy with the fluctuations on certain frequencies proving my signal was picking up interference or simply was not strong enough I know that in normal weather all would be ok but Im a bit of a perfectionist so in the end I put 1 west on a seperate dish

In conclusion I rekon it can be done my archiles heel was the triax multi lnb bracket it does not allow for fine tuning up and down - However what I did dispell is that you can get a perfectly good signal on 16 east and at the same time get a decent signal on 1 west I rekon with a more adjustable lnb bracket I could have increasd the 1 west quality by another 10 percent and possibly rid it of BER altogether

Yes limited adjustment. The Gibertini bracket for example can be adjusted to suit as with other offset arms. Never really liked the Triax multi lnb bracket but that's just done to personal choice.

You can put the metal bar on upside down, this gives a greater scope for up/down adjustment.

I do like the Triax bracket TBH, but it doesn't give total freedom agreed.

Ive had 9E,13E,16E,19E,23,5E and 28E using one on a TD88 a couple of times, without too much bother.
