Problem - True south

My Satellite Setup
I've no special idea
but in a certain case i can say the satellite setup is my own jobs right now and i do think as an expert so i'm experienced for more than a few years and i use to work to setup computers too I'm glad to find here

Hi there i've a problem with true south so i want to set my motorized dish in where the true south is faced of a big wall and then somehow i've no way at all

I'm in needed of your help

Please as an experienced tell me what to do to set it up as well as i can

Is there any way to install it without any problem?

Welcome to the forum PaGaN

I think you should have a look at the stickys in the dish setup section, you do not want due south you want your due south satellite to set up your motorised system please read the information here

I'm sorry I cannot understand what it is you are trying to say, this is a self help forum, you are supposed to read the information already posted on here in order to learn how to do whatever it is you are trying to do. We cannot re-invent the wheel each time. Perhaps if you drew a diagram and posted on here it would be obvious what your problem is, at the moment we can only guess

I don't think so. CET spans from 31E (NorthEast Norway) to 9W (Galicia, Spain). How can the Sun be due South for all those places at once?

Here's a trick I tried once. It's kind of tedious, but if you stick with it you'll get it.

1. Determine your true south satellite. (should be the closest one to your longitude).
2. Use dishpointer.com to find the elevation, azimuth, and skew.
3. Using a compass and the suggested elevation angle use a best guess method for where your true south sat should be, and point the dish to that location with all the suggested settings.
4. Using USALS as your motor alignment method, choose a satellite that is toward the far end and move the dish to its location. I see you are in the USA, so I would use Galaxy 18 at 123W. It has some strong transponders.
5. Fine tune the reception at the dish by moving left-right and adjusting elevation.

You may have to fine tune several times before you get it right, or modify the satellite locations on your receiver to do very fine adjustments left-right.

Let me know if this works.

This site will give you exact time of day for solar noon.

I have used this method and it works great.:cool:

With dish aimed true south lay a board vertically across face of dish with a protractor and plumb bob attached. Set you dish elevation from what sat-sig.net gives you for your lat and long.
 
Hey Satcom, I wish I'd known about that when I got started. Probably would have made things a lot easier.

Not much good for an installer though (unless he can manage to visit every client at precisely local solar noon).
 
If the true south sat has obstructions you choose the nearest one to it that doesn't. Send the dish there using USALS and then align the dish to it using normal methods, but adjust azimuth my swiveling the motor around the pole.

All this alining with the sun at midday stuff is not necessary, the satellites are there to align to and can be done at any time of the day.

I agree, why would you spend days waiting for the sun to come out ,i set mine up in the rain with a £5 sat meter ,took no more than a couple of minutes.

Some places the Sun comes out every day. ;)
