hi guys!
i have recently changed my setup from multi lnb to a linier motorised system after passing by the diseqc setup too, i have looked all over the internet for a good polar mount that will support my very havy 120cm dish wich is pretty good i have to say very good gain, but i couldnt find any or the once i found whre extreamly pricy so i dicided to make my own, after a week i have to say i was imbressd with my self the polar mount i made of steel scraps and a the old dish az mount parts was a great success very sterdy loose less and it looks great.
reciever tc cable out the back, set up cable mounted the motor hooked up the actuator made a few adjustements, bang!!! its working great and the signal is 82% to 90% compare to 40 to 45% i hade on badr26 befor so i packed up everything conected the cable in the motor cable in to the house witch actually runs about 40meters gowing throut doors and corners to get to the siting room and pow the positioners dos work there is a short puls two counts and then the E2
error message on the positioner, i was told that it may be the cable i was using it as a foor core alarm cable witch worked fine with the a smaller actuator so i changed it to a thiker propper four core cable witch now dosnt work either the sensor is working fine cause whwn i bring the positioner outside it work fine and wen i loosen the cable it works fine too with a couple of errors but then it work again i dont know what the story is im begining to think that its the positioner the have not got anought power out trought the cable i think its about 2.4 amps of power out wht do u all think? did anyone of u hade this problem or similar befor i need some help here please and tank u in advence.

Are you saying you don't get an E2 message on a short 4core cable run?

hi satelliteman! and tank u for the quick replay.
and yes i dont get any error on a short cable or even on a long cable but loose not bent around the corneres of the house when its just lying down it works.

e2 error is usually the motor hitting the hardware limits

have you taken the cover off the motor and see if the limit is pushed in and also taken off any limits that might have been set in the positioner

no ma8 i cheked now but the limits are far from been reached and i did a reset on the positioner but the same the positioner makes two counts and stops now no e2 error anymore the numbers on the positioner change by two on eatch puch of a buton and then stops.

Sounds like a reed switch problem, the little magnet located by the little wheel inside the cover.

ok i will try and chnge it i have one that belong to the smaller superjak i will switch them and see but befor i will bring the positioner ouside and see if its working on a short run cable or not.

Does the positoner move the dish without an error message whilst the cable is loose on the floor regardless of length?

In which case would suggest the reed sensor is doing it's job.

ok! i went ou and had a litel fidle with the motor, opened it up took the sensor out put a new one but nothing even the short lent on the cable didnt work
it was making a litl puls and it stops, then i put the sensor back in it and tryed it again, gess what? it worked! paked it all wentback in hoohed it and its working now, i dont understand, it still making the e2 error but after a couple of puches on the romote it runs the motor so i really think yhis the positioner that hasnt got enought power for this size motor i think this motor needs a vbox III! or what do u think guys?

The V-box II is fine for a 1.2m on a 24" motor, I have used them on much larger dishes.

As in another post, you should make sure you haven't set the limits too close to the minimum end of travel of the motor arm, otherwise you may find the shaft could come to a quick halt, and lock up the worm drive.

hi guys u wldnt beliave what the problem was!!!!
i still think that the major problem is the weakness of the positionner i found out that this superjack is only a bad chinese made was sent to me from morocco, but the other problem that braught the weekness of the positioner was the bolts that im using on the bearings that join the two parts of the polar mount where extreamly tight the only thing that was alowing the polar mount to move was the grease in betwen so ive loosened them a bit and its moving like a dream now exept a few e2 errors i get from time to time witch i think is the positioner cause it gets really hot but i will change it and see what happened
i was gowing to get another one anyway, but overall its moving verywell when its moving.

hi again!
here is a couple of picture showing where the problem was.

Result... yes too much strain on the actuator to move an over tightened polar mount would certainly cause an e2 message.

Plenty lubrication required also :p

Happy days.

Ooooer....

Tomorrow I am going to get the cat to try his paws at welding, as I am sure he couldn't make quite so much of a lash up as those in the photos.
