Hi,

A friends Samsung box (on1M dish) today came up with a blue box stating that the box was updating, will take 10 min etc etc. Never seen this box before. Anyway a few hours later he contacted me as the message was still there. Tried the usual things, unplugged it, but when it came back on same message, tried a forced update, after the usual long wait, back came the same blue message box. Thought maybe it needed a data stream on one of the weak transponders, so took it home and put it on my big dish. Box updated perfectly and all working fine.

Took box back and of course had to reset default transponder, did new installation. It said channels found, but then no satellite signal. Checked default transponder, it had reset itself. Changed it again (to 12207), tried to install, no joy. Checked and the default had changed again!

Did a rebuild and system reset, reset the default transponder and managed to tune in the channels. All working, but when I checked the default it had changed again, so the next time he has apower cut, he will lose his telly.

Any other Samsung users experiencing this?

No problems with mine on my 80cm dish here in Valencia.
The box will and should revert back to 11778, this is normal, as that is the frequency for the 7 day EPG.
One or two of the older SD boxes do seem to keep in another DT frequency, so they boot right back up, others revert back to 11778.
I have also found it is best just to change the DT frequency, then press Sky, check for the date and time, and wait for channel 998 to appear in the info banner. I have found doing new installations or manual tunes do not always work and can "confuse" the box. Once you change the DT frequency you dont really have to do anything else, just check for the dtae and tim on the screen and wait. Doing any other process after changing the DT is pretty much unnessessary.

Just one of the issue with living on the fringe ...

Thanks. I used to always use Thomson HD boxes and their DT stays at what you set it. Great for small dishes with regular power cuts!
