problems setting up motorised dish

dreambox, 1mtr motorised dish

hi all, hoping someone may be able to help, im in hull, uk and have set the dish up to true north and the pole is level both ways etc, however when trying to send the dish to 28.2 the dish only moves fractionaly and is pointing nowhere near where it should, there is not much more movement going from 0 to 28.2e compared to 0 to 0.8e so after two days of trying to work out how to sort it i have resorted to asking you guys for help lol

How have you set up the motor? Usals or Diseqc?
If you are in Hull then you should be aligning the dish on1W, and set your motor accordingly for any minor discrepancy.
Check http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/dishpointer.php for a more accurate reading of your longitude and latitude.
Please also post more information regarding your system, receiver, motor, dish size etc.
 
ok, so it apparently didnt post my message before saying thanks lol, it is aligned to thor correctly from thor but will have to play around with the alignment to inrease strength, the dish is a 1metre, the motor is a technomate tm-2300 super and the receiver is a dm500s, im using DISEqC. when ligned up to thor if i try and send the dish anywhere it will fractionaly move one way then back, however no wires are in the way and when using the receiver to manually move left and right instead of using drive to the dish moves with no problems, thanks
 
I don't think this is a motor problem but a receiver problem.
The DM500s model is no longer produced so I assume the model you're using is a clone, some of which have been known to have power problems, due to the poor quality.
What image, and software, have you loaded on your DM500?
You might have to check out the Dreambox section, and read all the guides, to get it working, provided that it is not a hardware problem:

hey, thanks, im using gemini 4.7, when checking the mac address of the box it seems to match with the boxes which arent clones so ill have to have a harder look at it, ill have a look at the link and see how i get on, thanks
 
dm500s you will have probs with i had same until i swaped for tm500 it seems dms voltage can be unstable causing motor to stop between sats usually i would re-power the box and it went ok , but had the problem all the time and had to keep re-powering the dm500, tm 500 works a treat with tm motors
 
thanks, took youradvice and after being told i must be doing something wrong they let me pay the difference for the tm-500, worked instantly lol, only problem im having at the min is the ethernet as when i plug it in the box takes over a minute to move when i press a button lol, ill try sorting it out but for now im just happy its working and finding satellites, thanks all for your help

hey, got it working by changing from the official standard image to the UR ones, all is working great now, thanks
