Hi all, i got my new motor yesterday and will soon be moving house and will be able to put up dish and get setup etc, in the meantime i thought i would test new motor and im having problems, i have hooked up motor to my dm800hd box and used the following settings:

tuner configuration menu

tuner a: alps bsbe2 (dvb-s2)
positioner: USALS

configuration mode: simple
mode: positioner
longitude: xxx.xxx
east
latitude: xxx.xxx
north

i then go to satfinder menu

tune: manual transponder
satellite: i choose satellite i want
system: dvb-s
frequency: 11836
inversion: auto
symbol rate: 27500
polarity: horizon
fec: auto

the problem is, when i select a satellite the motor moves to it, but it goes past it
for example

if i tell it to go to 40.e it goes to 43e on motor
if i tell it to go to 5w it goes to 7w

it goes to 9e, 10e, 13e, 16e perfectly, but wont stop at other satellites, i have manually set it at 0 and reset motor loads of times but still the same problem, anyone help

just sent it to 45w and its gone to 51w
 
Hi,

Actually when you tell the dish to go to 40E, the motor should go to 45 degrees eastward

5w should go to 4 degrees westward

45W should go to 47W degrees westward

Your 9E,13E and 16E are also actually going to the wrong position.
Should be (11.5 E,16E and 19E respectively)

Are you sure you have entered your lat and long correctly.

( values above calculated using the USALS equations)



EDIT,

OK, I know what you have done wrong, your longitude is WEST not EAST.

Putiing east instead of west in, will gives the values you have, not the ones I have listed, which are the correct ones.

BTW east is positive and west is negative in th epics below.

All you need to do is change your longitude to west not east, and it will work, yes post them here to 1 decimal place if you like.
 
Yep, roughly what I used in my motor position calculator program. -1.4776 is 1.4777 W.

whta program are you using m8, could u send it me or advise me where i can download it

I wrote it. I can't upload it though because it needs a runtime engine that is too large to upload.

Yes, the same is referred to in the motor manual.
