Wirral born actor Lewis Collins has died aged 67 at his home in Los Angeles. He had been suffering from cancer for the past five years.

Collins was best known for his four year stint as tough man Bodie in The Professionals in the 70s. In fact his acting persona was so tied in with this part that he found it difficult to find other roles and he eventuallymoved to LA where he ran a successful computer company.

I met him very briefly some 25 years ago at a wedding reception. He was a family friend of the groom's father. A very nice man indeed.

RIP Lewis, met him whilst they were filming Who Dares Wins, I was bar manager at a winebar/restaurant in Littlewick Green, Berkshire and they were filming the coach scenes in nearby lanes, so we let them use the bar and restaurant for a couple of days when we would normally be closed. Very pleasant and polite man.
 
Yes ...RIP..Lewis.....I loved the Ford Capri 3 litre S...he drove in the tv show .....so much ...I got Myself a Capri 2.8 injection .....in the late 80's.......
 
RIP Lewis, well I suspect your looks meant you had more female followers than male but you entertained us all.
 
I also remember him from a comedy called the cuckoo waltz.
 
Very sad, Was watching a re run of the Professionals yesterday. As a kid when I saw him in Who dares wins I was convinced he would become Bond. What a waste he didn´t.
